A Few Favorite Shows

Silly Circus

If you can’t go to the circus then the circus can come to you, well sort of. This silly circus has some magic, fun music, puppets, stories, a bit of juggling and more. The entertainer can be dressed as a clown or a happy human if you prefer.

Imagination plays a big part in the silly circus when it comes to visit. Circus music plays as the children gather adding to the excitement. The kids are encouraged to use their imaginations to transform the room into a circus tent in their minds. Circus tricks aren't easy. The entertainer has some comical bits about not giving up when things go wrong. While they are laughing and smiling the kids learn that if they're willing to work at something, anything may be possible.

Jungle Bungle – It’s jungle out there or is it?

There are lots of laughs and lots of learning in this interactive show right from the start. As the entertainer tries to start the show music comes on, “The lion sleeps tonight”. No, no, no that’s not right! The lion puppet is trying to take over the jungle show using that song as his reasoning. He knows the entertainer won't like it so he is hiding. Once he is found they talk about the differences between jungles and the savanna. The lion agrees to go back to his show and now it’s back to learning about the jungle and the rainforest. Large colorful visuals including oversized books, toy bugs, puppets and more make it fun and exciting. As always humor plays a big part of the show.

Paradigms of Rhymes and Timeless Tales

This show explores some traditional fairy tales and nursery rhymes in new and funny ways. Books, music, puppets, and balloons all play a big part in this interactive show. Nibbles the book monster causes a lot of problems as he appears and disappears throughout the show and nibbles through the story books. After discovering that Nibbles has ruined another story some of the audience members get to come on stage and help act out the Three Little Pigs. There are many laughs and photo-ops in this part of the show. The puppet baby duck is very upset by Nibbles shenanigans and learns some wasy to deal with those feelings. Interaction with the puppets baby duck and Little Miss Muffet incorporate elements of managing mad emotions and accepting others as they are. At the end of the show a copy of Nibbles the Book Monster is presented as a gift to the Library. Each child will receive a “Paradigms of Rhymes and Timeless Tales” coloring sheet.

Diggin' the Dinosaurs

Who was and who wasn’t a dinosaur is a big part of this fun show. The kids laugh and learn as the funny paleontologist entertainer and multiple prehistoric puppets dig into the facts about what a dinosaur is and isn’t. Puppets Pterry the pterodactyl, Smile the crocodile, and Meg the Megalodon know they aren’t dinosaurs even though they did live at the same time as dinos. They sing and talk about what they share in common and how they are different. Dino the Dragon says he is a dinosaur and he is pretty convincing. So is he a dinosaur? Maybe one of the kids in the audience will figure it out for sure in the future. Kids will learn a bit about fossils, what paleontologists do with them, and that they are often wrong about what they discover. A bit of magic helps demonstrate how fossils from millions of years ago end up at the museum for us to enjoy. Along with the fun and dinosaur information the kids will learn that it is ok to be wrong sometimes and there is always more to learn.

ABC, 123, come and learn with me

Molly is a cute, smart, shy preschool puppet who is nervous about going to a new school. The kids in the audience reassure her that she will make friends, learn new things, and have fun be she still isn’t sure. The “what if” monster has her and she dosen’t even know it. After reading the book Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster Molly starts to feel better as she realizes that she can conquer the ‘what ifs” and school is going to be fun. Since she is excited but still a little unsure the kids in the audience get to help out again by singing and acting out some favorite letter and counting songs. While everyone is laughing and having fun and Molly completely overcomes the “what ifs” and is ready for the new adventure. At the end of the show a copy of Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster is presented as a gift to the host.

Fabulous Fall

Every season has it’s own special characteristics. This show celebrates the fabulousness of Fall. A friendly scarecrow character sets the stage with fun fall songs and decorations. Music, stories, and magic are all used to highlight the wonderful ways that things are different in the Fall. The children love the engaging stories about how animals prepare for the coming Winter, friendship, and how things seem different from different perspectives.
